I’ve been agonizing over this for quite some time, but I just listed my !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Nobody is making me do it, but I just can’t justify keeping an expensive toy that I barely use, while my house is in need of so much more work. My family deserves a house that we can be proud of. An additional factor is the fact that my wife won’t let me put my kids in it. I’ll buy something else fun once the kids are out of daycare.

That said, my price is ... optimistic. I don’t NEED to sell it, and I damn sure ain’t giving it away.

Alternative plan; Put the family on craigslist and use the money to buy upgrades for the buick.

Never knew this was a thing. It’s a really Fancy Nova?

Kinja'd!!!3

It’s a very slightly fancier Nova. As my friend put it, “It’s a Nova in a cheap tuxedo.”

They’re pretty rare. This is the only one I’ve ever seen in person.

I like the family. They’re not for sale :)

I can believe it I didn’t even know they existed!

I’m very sorry you have to sell, and I hope you get a fair price for something so well sorted.

On an unrelated note, my dad works, like, 5 miles from that area on North Ave. Small world!

You’re in the land of the Jewelry Exchange! The fact that I know that means you’re not too far from me. Oppo discount? Do you ever bring it to the local cruise nights?

My fun car, I’ll never sell and my wife will never ask me to. It was my first car, and my wife has just as many fond memories with it as I do, so I don’t have to worry about that angle. It cost nothing to keep ($100/year for insurance, which I don’t necessarily need ), so if I’m short on cash, I don’t have to have it on the road. Any kind of financial trouble I might get in, selling it’s not going to fix it when I’ll get maybe $5k for it (in it’s current state, and the state it’ll be in for a few more years). If I’m in such dire straights that that kind of money will fix it, I’ll take a cash advance on my credit card and get raped on intrest for a few months/years. I’m just as attached to my car as I am to my family, neither’s going anywhere if I have anything to say about it. Sometimes life means you have to make tough decisions, and good on you for making some, but for the amount you’re asking for it, I’d sooner pull it out of my 401k and work an extra year or two later if you need to. I’m fairly attached to my car though, so don’t take advice from me.

Ha! It’s amazing how much bigger that store looks in the commercial, than it is in real life.

I would do a $500 Oppo discount.

I don’t make it to cruise nights too often. I was going to go to Lemont’s cruise night tonight, but I just plain forgot!

I think your feelings are perfectly reasonable. My sale isn’t so much about need, as it is about changing priorities.

My wife didn’t ask me to sell it, in fact she talked me out of selling it a couple years ago. I’m not nearly as attached to the Buick as you are to your car. The Buick was my 8th car, and I never intended to keep it forever. There are so many other fun cars I want to own, and I don’t have the time/space/money for more than one fun car.

My recent sorting it out/sell or don’t sell wasn’t as big as the Buick, but I know the feelings - just a little. Really enjoyed the trip in the B. when you introduced me to dirt-tracking at Wilmot.

Makes sense, it seemed like you didn’t really want to sell it, and I hear stories all the time about people regretting selling a car.

Yeah, I know what you mean. All the financial reasons why you won’t sell yours apply to me too, in that it doesn’t cost hardly anything to own, and it isn’t worth a ton of money. I can’t say I want to sell it, but I’m not gutted over it either. At this point in my life I’d just rather fix up my house, than keep a car I hardly drive.

Gotcha.

Eh, I respect her feelings. I cannot in good faith say it is as safe as even a 20 year old car. I asked her if she’d let me put them in a 3rd gen Camaro, which I have been seriously lusting after lately. I got a maybe. That’s progress.

Respect to a fellow Apollo owner!

My ‘75 felt the sting a couple years ago when I thought about selling it. Gave up and kept her, she’s too loyal a car to give away to some shmuck who isn’t going to enjoy it.

I know right? Such a rare car now. I’ve had mine since I was 17, so a little over 11 years now. It’s evolved quite a bit since then.

I’ve never seen another in person of my body style, but I did once see one of your body style. My eyes about popped out of my head when I saw it. Was ‘75 the only year for the Apollo in that body style? They changed it to Skylark in ‘76, if I recall correctly.

Kinja'd!!! ApolloX75 > shop-teacher

Yup, ‘75 they came as a sedan only for the Apollo. The hatchback and coupes were renamed to Skylarks and in ‘76 the Apollo disappeared entirely.

I have yet to see one like mine to this day, especially here in Canada. Mine drove around Ottawa for about 25 years, piloted by a lady til her husband sent it to the scrapyard. It sat maybe three or four days in the scrapyard before my dad found it and we hauled it out.
